Where do I pay my taxes?
Delinquent taxes are to be paid at the Denton County Tax Office.
What will happen if I don’t pay my taxes?
There is information on your tax bill from the Denton County Tax Assessor/Collector that states if your taxes aren’t paid by February 1 then they are subject to legal action.
Where do I go to apply for exemptions on my property?
The Denton Central Appraisal District.
What if someone else is responsible for paying the amount due?
If someone else is responsible for paying the delinquent amount, it is still your responsibility as the Owner to ensure the amount due is paid.
Can I pay by Credit Card?
The Denton Tax Assessor/Collector does offer a credit card service, therefore you may want to visit their website to find out more information.
What if I don’t own this property?
If you sold this property through a title company then you may want to contact their office to verify proper deed filing and/or status of tax payment.
What do I do if I have an active bankruptcy?
You should contact your Bankruptcy Attorney to determine whether delinquent taxes are/should be included in your bankruptcy plan.
What do I do if my lender foreclosed on the property?
You should contact your lender, the Denton Central Appraisal District and the Denton County Tax office to ensure that your lender is placed on their records as the owner of the property.
What do I do if the lender repossessed my mobile home or if I gave it back?
You should contact your lender, the Denton Central Appraisal District and the Denton County Tax office to ensure that your lender is placed on their records as the owner of the mobile home.
What if I sold the property?
You need to make sure the Denton Central Appraisal District and Denton County Tax Office show that you are no longer the owner. If you are still listed as the owner then you need to contact your real estate broker and title company to make sure all deed records and transfers of title were properly filed with the Denton County Clerk.
What if I never received a bill?
It is your responsibility to make sure the Tax Office has your correct address so that you may receive your tax bill timely. In the event you should not receive your bill timely or at all then it is still your responsibility to contact the tax office for amount due.
When and where do the Tax Auctions take place?
Tax Auctions are held the1st Tuesday of each month at 10:00 a.m. at the Denton County Courthouse.
Why am I getting charged penalty & interest when it’s only a few days late?
There is information on your tax bill from the Denton County Tax Assessor/Collector that states Penalty & Interest starts accruing February 1.
Why does the amount on your letter differ from what I believe to be my total bill?
We only represent certain taxing jurisdictions therefore only able to provide amounts for those we represent.
What do I do if the mailing address on my bill is wrong?
Contact the Denton Central Appraisal District to have it corrected.
What if the legal description or property address is incorrect?
If the legal description is wrong on your deed then you would need to contact the title company who conducted the transaction. Also, you may want to contact the Denton Central Appraisal District to verify a clerical error.
What if these taxes were supposed to have been paid at closing?
Contact the title company to verify disbursal of amounts collected at Closing.
